„incognito ergo sum III“ is a word play and a play on female attitude as well. Since i was 23 i’ve been shaving my hair or wearing it very short, because i like it. But i love playing different roles, and i own diverse wigs in different colours and lengths. I consider myself a feminist and i love to irritate with my name, my hair style and last but not least with the change of my identity.
Once i did a photo shoot in public wearing the wig you see in this picture. When i do self-portraits, i have to go back many many times to check whether i come close to my ideas. This day was a bit hot. While i was working, an older couple came along, asked me what i was doing there, wanted to see the pictures (what I would never do)), and watched me work. I had problems with a particular configuration and suddenly pulled the wig off my head because it was too hot. They were a bit shocked and gave me the advice to leave the wig on: „men love hair like this much more“. I welcomed the advice and maybe this short interaction was an inspiration for the „incognito ergo sum“-series.
